If you ever wanted to work remotely from an ideal location, now is the best time to do it. Newly created SwapYourShop.com allows creative professionals from all over the country to swap their homes and offices. The idea is fairly new and is similar to house swapping on Craigslist, but with SwapYourShop you exchange your workspace as well.
Lets say I wanted to travel to Miami for a month and work on a project with a client of mine. I could simply browse SYS and find any other creatives interested in traveling to Los Angeles around the same time. If I find the right person, we could then exchange dates, travel to each others homes and work at each others offices. This definitely takes a lot of stranger trust, but hopefully you’ll be able to feel out your prospects well enough before the switch.

SYS even has a section on the site, where interested employees can direct their boss to if they have any questions or concerns about the exchange.
It would be interesting to see larger companies participate in these types of exchanges. They would be able to cutback expenses on lodging, but also make sure their employees are comfortable living in other people’s homes, apartments etc… It might make more sense for startups to take advantage of SWS, rather than large companies, simply based of the lack of funds most entrepreneurs don’t have. .
